The Negev Dogs website provides links to rescue groups in the Negev and other regions in Israel. They desperately need your help, especially now, during the war.
About this site

This site does not take donations!
-
I provide you with links and information of rescue organizations in Israel.

I translate information from Hebrew to English.
There are good hearted rescuers and foster families, who help stray dogs and cats, but they need help and support to pay for dog/cat food and veterinary bills. The Negev region has a harsh climate. This is a desert region with little water. Sand and scorching sun is not a natural environment for dogs to survive in.
The rescuers in Arad, Beersheva and Yeruham have Facebook pages that are currently only in Hebrew.
I will add links to the sites. I will also provide links to sites that have an English option, such as S.O.S pets. You can read the information on their pages and please consider donating. Thank you for visiting this website and learning about the dog crisis in Israel.

Mission
My name is Michal. I live in Canada, I speak Hebrew.
I decided to create this website to provide information in English about the stray dog crisis in Israel, especially in the Negev region; located in southern Israel.
Since people overseas are unaware of the severity and the impossible challenges the animal rescuers face in this region. I do not believe the rescuers can solve this crisis on their own without international support. The rescuers cannot depend on the Israeli government, who is useless when it comes to saving dogs and even harms them by funding the Agriculture Ministry. (they shoot dogs)
The desert is the natural habitat of the Nubian ibex, however its a foreign environment for dogs or cats. They cannot adapt to this harsh climate.
Vision
I hope there will be real change in this region; the dogs need to be sterilized. Breeding should be illegal, so that Israelis will only adopt dogs from shelters.
I hope large animal shelters will be built in the Negev, with free veterinary care.
Everyday this crisis is ignored the dogs suffer. Puppies go to sleep on sand and landfills next to Negev towns. It is cruel to neglect them and this also effects the wildlife in the Negev, since they compete for food with foxes, Jackals and other species. Jackals have been increasingly aggressive because they are hungry.
I hope this website will help to get the conversation started overseas and more people will get involved to create positive change for the beautiful dogs in the Negev. Street cats in Israel also have a horrible life. Large shelters should be created, since there will never be enough homes in Israel for all the cats.
